To ask the Scottish Government whether it will provide an update on when people who are over the age for automatic inclusion in the breast screening programme will be able to make breast screening appointments at locally available screening units.

In recognition of the anxiety the pause for those over the age of 71 to self-refer is causing, I asked for work to explore options that will accelerate the restart of self-referrals for women aged 71 and over. Any decision will be informed by clinical advice and the on-going pandemic. As part of these considerations our goal is to restart the option to self-refer by the end of September 2022, with a number of factors still to be worked through. The restart will be done in a phased way without unduly impacting appointment times for the eligible screening population for whom there are clear screening benefits. Every effort continues to be made to increase capacity in the screening programme, including through deploying additional mobile units and offering weekend and evening appointments.

Regardless of their age, women should remain symptom aware and report any symptoms to their GP immediately for these to be investigated.

To ask the Scottish Government what information it has on how many children have undertaken cycling proficiency training in each year since 1999, broken down by local authority area.

Bikeability is Scotland’s national cycle training programme for School children – designed to give pupils the skills and confidence they need to cycle safely on the road and to encourage them to carry on cycling into adulthood. The Scottish Government hold data on the level of training provision from 2010, this is published each year by Cycling Scotland. Since 2010 more than 350,000 pupils have received cycle training in Scotland.

The following table shows the percentage of primary schools delivering Level 2 Bikeability training for each year broken down by local authority. The entries showing "no return" reflect that Argyll & Bute, East Ayrshire and North Ayrshire delivered alternative training. Argyll and Bute and East Ayrshire started delivering Bikeability training in 2020-21.

To ask the Scottish Government what support it provides to organisations that support male victims of domestic abuse.

Equally Safe, Scotland’s strategy to prevent and eradicate violence against women and girls, acknowledges that men and boys can also be victims of intimate violence. Which is why many of the actions within the Equally Safe delivery plan are intended to help everyone; such as an increased focus on the education of consent and healthy relationships and a focus on tackling negative gender roles and stereotypes that are harmful to men and women alike.

In the 2021-22 Programme for Government, we committed to invest in services and progress work to tackle violence against men and boys. This will build on the funding we already provide for a range of services which support male victims, including the Rape Crisis Scotland Helpline, its National Advocacy Project and the Scottish Domestic Abuse and Forced Marriage Helpline.

Additionally, we are providing £5.6 million to ASSIST between 2017-2023 who provide advocacy support to male survivors of domestic abuse in the West of Scotland and the Lothians; alongside nearly £190,000, between 2017-2023, to help fund the Respect Helpline which signposts male survivors of domestic abuse to support services, and approximately £100,000 to SACRO’s fearfree service which provides individual support for male and LGBT victims of domestic abuse.

To ask the Scottish Government, as part of its review of the role of the BS 8414 standard in Scotland, what discussions it has had with the (a) UK Government regarding its decision in 2018 to end the use of the BS 8414 standard for residential and institutional buildings over 18m and (b) Welsh Government regarding its decision in 2020 to do the same.
