Academic engagement opportunities

Members of the Scottish Parliament, their staff and parliament staff need access to relevant and timely evidence and an awareness of key policy issues. They draw on many sources, including academic expertise.

The Scottish Parliament Information Centre (SPICe) manages a range of activities for individual academics and higher education institutions. Through these activities, they can get involved in the work of Parliament.

Our programme for academic engagement aims to strengthen links with Scotland's universities. It also aims to better understand what is happening in academia and vice versa.

Upcoming webinar

SPICe will be hosting a live webinar on how academics can engage with the Scottish Parliament on Thursday 19 September between 11:00-12:30.
This webinar is aimed primarily at academics; however, knowledge exchange/other university staff are more than welcome to attend.

Staff from SPICe, the Scottish Parliament’s impartial research service, will help participants understand more about:
Scottish Parliament, what it does and how it works.
SPICe and how it works with academia.
How research can be used in the Scottish Parliament.
Top tips for how to get your research into the Scottish Parliament.
How to keep on top of upcoming opportunities.

Please email [email protected] if you would like to sign-up for this free event. Please add the word ‘webinar’ to the subject line of your email.  We will be in touch at the beginning of September with further information.   Sign-up will remain open until Friday 13 September.
