For example, the recent official opening of the road from Arisaig towards Mallaig was accompanied by an announcement that the final section of single-track trunk road in Scotland, and I think in all of the UK, will be upgraded over the next couple of years, with plans for the upgrade of the road from Arisaig to Loch nan Uamh.Much significant work is being done, but my priorities for the future are to do more of the smaller-scale schemes, such as bypasses and underpass and overpass schemes, which can help make access to our trunk roads safer, reduce the number of road accidents and make the roads generally safer, particularly for children and young people. It surprises many people that you cannot tell the difference between a nuclear bomb going off somewhere in the world and an increase in wind speed from 20mph to 30mph at Eskdalemuir. Surely there will be a method of calibrating your equipment so that it can tell what is normal, given the wind speed, and what is a bomb going off.
