PE1936: Remove Potholes from Scotlands Roads

Petition Summary

Calling on the Scottish Parliament to urge the Scottish Government to improve road surfaces by:

  • Creating an action plan remove potholes from trunk roads across Scotland; and
  • Providing ring-fenced funding to local Councils to tackle potholes.

28 September 2022: The Committee agreed to write to the Scottish Road Works Commissioner, the Society of Chief Officers of Transportation in Scotland, the Chartered Institute of Highways and Transportation, the Civil Engineering Contractors Association, the RAC Foundation, and the Road Haulage Association.  

22 March 2023: The Committee agreed to write to the Scottish Government, Audit Scotland and Police Scotland.

11 September 2024: The Committee agreed to close the petition under Rule 15.7 of Standing Orders. In closing the petition, the Committee agreed to write to the Scottish Government.
