  • Date lodged: Monday, 18 November 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-15501

That the Parliament recognises Falkirk Council’s efforts to help local wildlife while improving community green spaces, utilising the Scottish Government’s Nature Restoration Fund (NRF); understands that, in 2023-24, Falkirk Council received £348,000 from the NRF and has utilised this funding to restore nature, enhance nature networks and improve biodiversity; notes that this funding has provided crucial support to 11 new projects in the area, with help from organisations such as Greenspace Scotland and the Green Action Trust, alongside local volunteers, to bring these projects to life; understands that one example of this work is the Climate FORTH Rannoch Park project, which is directing major transformation, including creating wetlands, woodlands and meadows full of nectar-rich plants, alongside new seating areas and a community orchard; recognises and commends Falkirk Council’s utilisation of the Nature Restoration Fund, and wishes it well as it continues to support such crucial work to enhance biodiversity and fight climate change while protecting the local environment.
