  • Submitted by: Elena Whitham, Carrick, Cumnock and Doon Valley, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 18 November 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-15483

That the Parliament commends Rosemary Stevenson, from Ballantrae, for volunteering for her community and establishing Ballantrae Rural Initiative Care in the Community (BRICC); understands that Rosemary, who is 88 years old, drives a lorry of furniture to sell at the BRICC shop in the village; applauds BRICC for raising more than £1.5 million over the last 25 years to support older people in Ballantrae; notes that BRICC intends to build a care home with a dementia unit for the people of Ballantrae and surrounding areas; recognises that the team believes that this is necessary as older villagers are required to move away to receive the care that they need, and wishes Rosemary and the team at BRICC the very best for the future.
