Thanking George King

  • Submitted by: Kevin Stewart, Aberdeen Central, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 14 November 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-15439

That the Parliament thanks George King, who is retiring from his diagnostics post at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, for the immense contribution he has given NHS Grampian during a career spanning almost 50 years; notes George’s unique history at the Foresterhill site, having been born in the maternity unit in 1959, with his father taking up a post as janitor at the Foresterhill nursing college in 1967, as well as his mother working there for 30 years, and starting his own career there in October 1976, meaning that he has lived or worked at Foresterhill almost his entire life; recognises that the King family has a combined service of over 120 years in the health service, with George’s two daughters also choosing to work in the NHS, in management and bio-medical scientist roles; believes that the long and distinguished career George has had is something to be rightly proud of, and wishes him all the best in his well-deserved retirement.
