That the Parliament congratulates the winners at the prestigious 2024 Dumfries and Galloway Life Awards, which were staged at Easterbrook Hall in the grounds of The Crichton in Dumfries on 8 November 2024; recognises that the event, which was organised by Scotland’s Community Magazine of the Year, once again attracted a high calibre of competition in all of the categories and provided the judges with some tough choices; notes that Cairndale Hotel & Spa was named Overall Winner, the Museum of Lead Mining at Wanlockhead received the Judges Special Award, the GB Youth Winter Olympic Gold medalists won Sports Team of the Year, Aoiffion McVittie Branagan won Sports Person of the Year, David Thomson and Teresa Church were named Culture Champions, Kathleen Cronie won Performing Artist of the Year, Bea Last won Visual Artist, Kerr Little won Business Person, Rowan Glen Ltd was named Producer of the Year, Gallie Craig Mull of Galloway was awarded Café of the Year, Jenna Cains was named Environment Champion, Beth Wright-Hall was named Young Community Champion, Lara Porter was named Community Champion, Wigtown Community Shop won Community Project, The People’s Project in Dumfries received the Voluntary Group award, Lee Herron was named Volunteer of the Year, Lesley Watson was named Education Hero and Harry Galllacher was named Young Entrepreneur, and wishes the winners and nominees continued success in the months ahead as their contributions improve the quality of life in Dumfries and Galloway.
