Gilfoot TARA Action Group Named Tenant Group of the Year at the TIS National Excellence Awards 2024

That the Parliament commends Gilfoot TARA Action Group on being named Tenant Group of the Year at the Tenants Information Service (TIS) National Excellence Awards 2024; understands that Gilfoot TARA Action Group was a runner-up in the same category in 2023; notes that the award recognises a tenants, residents or community group that has made an outstanding contribution and achieved great practice that others can learn from in the future, and that the award considers how the group has added value to its local area and improved community spirit, strengthened relationships and communication, championed tenant participation, found innovative new ways to get people involved, influenced decisions and housing policies, services and standards, or driven community regeneration projects forward; understands that Gilfoot TARA Action Group is a committee comprised of 12 people, including five board members between the ages of 20 and 60, who provide low-cost opportunities for the whole community, from local events to no-expense days out; recognises what it sees as the positive impact that Gilfoot TARA Action Group makes through events such as Sparktackular Gilfoot and G in the Park, where it has worked with the local authority and local police to create safe, family-friendly events for the community; congratulates Gilfoot TARA Action Group on its award, and wishes it all the best as it continues to bring the Newmilns community together through its events.
