  • Date lodged: Monday, 11 November 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-15396

That the Parliament congratulates Swein Thomson, of Orkney Oysters, on his recent win at the Best Scottish Shellfish competition, which took place in Oban in early November 2024, and where he was presented with the Best Pacific Oyster in Scotland award; notes that the event was organised by the Association of Scottish Shellfish Growers and supported by Highlands and Islands Enterprise; recognises that Mr Thomson received this prestigious award on his first entry into the competition, which, it understands, was judged by a range of industry experts; commends this latest recognition of the high quality of Orkney seafood, and congratulates all of the finalists on the excellent contribution that they make to what it sees as Scotland’s world-leading seafood industry.
