  • Submitted by: Liam McArthur, Orkney Islands, Scottish Liberal Democrats.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 12 November 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-15340

That the Parliament congratulates Kirkwall lifeboatmen, Dougie Bain and Christopher Irvine, on their long service awards in recognition of their time working for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI); notes that Douglas, a second coxswain, has served for 30 years, and Christopher, who works as a launch authority, has served for 20; welcomes this well-deserved recognition of what it believes to be an outstanding commitment to the lifesaving work carried out by RNLI in the Orkney area; pays tribute to the resilience of Douglas and Christopher in what it recognises can be a challenging and unpredictable environment, and thanks both gentlemen, and all their colleagues in the RNLI, for their hard work and dedication to serving island and coastal communities around the country.
