That the Parliament congratulates Edinburgh Walton Angling Club on its 150th anniversary; understands that the club was founded in Edinburgh in December 1874, following a meeting at the Prince of Wales Hotel, called by Thomas Hall to "consider the propriety of forming a new angling association"; further understands that Mr Hall was subsequently elected as the first president of the club; acknowledges that members of the club participate in eight competitions each year, organised by the committee, with the winner of each competition being presented with an engraved trophy at the annual dinner; considers that it is testament to the dedication of the various presidents, vice presidents, secretaries, treasurers and committee members, together with the support of the club members, that has meant that the club has survived to this day and is still going strong some 150 years later; commends the club for what it sees as the many benefits that it brings to its members, such as the joy of competition fishing, friendship, exercise and fun, while enjoying the great outdoors and social events, and wishes the club many more successful years to come.
