That the Parliament congratulates Stirling High School student, Rudi Hawkins, on winning the Young Scots Writer of the Year prize at the 2024 Scots Language Awards; understands that this category considers stories, poems, spoken word pieces, comics, videos, or other pieces of writing, written or performed in Scots, which are under 2,500 words or up to 10 minutes in length; considers this to be a prestigious award; notes that it is run in partnership with the Scottish Book Trust, Hands Up for Trad, Scots Hoose, Education Scotland and the Scottish Government; understands that Rudi’s English teacher encouraged him to submit the story, None Shall Rest Easy, which he had written for his Higher English portfolio; notes that Rudi was able to meet Scots writers, poets and performers at the awards ceremony; understands that he is very involved in the local jazz and trad scene, and wishes Rudi the best for what it believes will no doubt be a bright future of creativity.
