That the Parliament notes with deep sadness the passing of Charlie Kirkwood at the age of 71; understands that Charlie was the beloved chairman of Bonnyrigg Rose FC, and had a 60-year association with the club, from a kit boy during its first Junior Cup win in 1966, to committee member in the 1980s and a sponsor through his window cleaning business, to chairman in 2009; notes his unwavering commitment to the club, which, it believes, brought unparalleled success from the brink of liquidation to rising through the leagues into the SPFL; understands that Charlie was a well-respected local hero, who gave the community countless days to remember through their football club; expresses its sincere condolences to his family and friends at this difficult time, and celebrates the lasting legacy that Charlie leaves to Bonnyrigg Rose and Scottish football more widely.
