That the Parliament congratulates the staff, prisoners and others associated with HMP Dumfries on it being the first prison in Scotland to receive official recognition by Parkrun UK; understands that the prison has a wide array of purposeful activities, access to counselling, addiction and specialist services to support its population; notes that it now offers an official 5K Parkrun to prisoners and staff, which supports the physical and mental health of those residing, and working in, the custodial estate; agrees with the comments of HMP Deputy Governor, Jim Smith, that the Parkrun recognition creates an invaluable opportunity for participants to focus on a goal by taking part in regular physical activity or by supporting others through volunteering at the run, which happens every Saturday, as marshals and in other important roles; thanks the innovative team of prisoners and staff on carrying out the work to receive official Parkrun recognition; thanks Parkrun UK for its support to the prison on its journey, and wishes all at HMP Dumfries every success as they continue to support those in the custodial estate.
