Supporting Councillor Alex Nicoll’s Stand Against Aberdeen’s Bus Gates and Leadership

  • Submitted by: Douglas Lumsden, North East Scotland, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 14 November 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-15146

That the Parliament congratulates Councillor Alex Nicoll on his resignation from the Aberdeen City Council Scottish National Party (SNP) administration; acknowledges what it sees as the strength of feeling in Aberdeen against the bus gates, which, it believes, are destroying the city centre by reducing footfall and causing confusion for residents; recognises Councillor Nicoll's remarks that “there are a number of things we have got wrong, obviously one of those being the decision around the bus gates”; understands his reported strength of feeling that Aberdeen City Council has failed the residents of Balnagask by not providing a solution to the ongoing reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC) issue, and notes his comments concerning the council leader, which were reported in the Press and Journal, that “I can’t have confidence in Christian Allard’s leadership anymore”.
