That the Parliament congratulates Jim Allan, from Bathgate, on being named as Scotland’s Towns Partnership (STP) Scotland Loves Local Awards 2024 High Street Hero for Lothian; understands that, whilst Jim volunteers for a number of different community groups, it is his work with West Lothian Litter Pickers (WLLP) that is his major passion and what he is being recognised for; further understands that the 3,650-strong WLLP Facebook group set up in 2019 has cleared hundreds of tonnes of litter since that time; acknowledges Jim’s determination to continue making a difference to his local community by arranging litter picks with schools, Scout groups, nurseries, factories and other businesses and organisations across the region, organising group picks and working hard to secure the funding needed for equipment to supply to members free of charge to do their job; recognises what it sees as the difference that Jim has made by making his local area and the environment cleaner and more attractive for local residents, as well as the impact that he has had on people's health and wellbeing by bringing them together with a sense of community spirit and pride, and commends Jim for his hard work.
