  • Submitted by: Neil Bibby, West Scotland, Scottish Labour.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 29 October 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-15070

That the Parliament congratulates Sewing2gether All Nations, which is a charity for refugees based in Paisley, on winning two awards for the work that it does throughout the community; recognises that the organisation, based at Mossvale Community Church in the town, launched in 2018 and provides creative skills workshops, including sewing upcycling along with life skill training for refugees and asylum seekers who wish to learn English and meet new people; notes that it has been awarded a Creative Lives Award for its One Millie All Nations project in collaboration with Journeys in Design, and that it also received a Generations Working Together Excellence Award for the charity's actions in tackling climate change, and understands that this was achieved through its creative upcycling workshops, where participants not only learn valuable sewing skills but also transform donated and discarded fabrics, saving them from landfill by making purposeful items.
