Visit West End Business Improvement District Named High Street Hero for Glasgow

That the Parliament congratulates the Visit West End Business Improvement District on being named as the High Street Hero for Glasgow in the 2024 Scotland Loves Local Awards; understands that the Scotland Loves Local Awards are organised by Scotland’s Towns Partnership as part of its work to champion the nation’s towns and places and promote the positive impact that choosing local has on communities; recognises what it sees the Visit West End Business Improvement District’s relentless drive to boost business and make the vibrant area more attractive, including through its support for initiatives such as the Byres Road Book Festival and the area’s renowned Christmas lights; welcomes proposals by the organisation to further enhance and improve the area, including through the possible installation of CCTV and improvements to Ruthven and Dowanside Lanes, and understands that Visit West End has also signed the Scotland Loves Local Pledge, encouraging its members, and the wider community, to prioritise spending with local businesses.
