  • Submitted by: Emma Roddick, Highlands and Islands, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 29 October 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-15044

That the Parliament congratulates Lottie Murie on being named Shetland’s youngest ever Boccia Champion; understands that players from across the Isles came together to compete for the title of Shetland Boccia Champion on 20 October 2024 at the Clickimin Leisure Complex in Lerwick; appreciates that boccia is a paralympic sport, in which athletes throw, kick or use a ramp to propel a ball onto the court with the aim of getting closest to a jack ball; understands that the final round ended 3-2 to Murie, making her the competition’s youngest ever winner; commends Ability Shetland and all the volunteers involved in running the competition, and extends its warmest congratulations to all those who competed.
