  • Submitted by: Claire Baker, Mid Scotland and Fife, Scottish Labour.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 28 October 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-14979

That the Parliament congratulates Ruby McDonald from Glenrothes, in Fife, on being nationally recognised for her commitment to volunteering in her community with the British Citizen Youth Award at the Palace of Westminster recently; believes that this is an outstanding achievement as Ruby is one of only 21 young people from across the UK to have been given the Award for positively impacting their communities; understands that Ruby has lived with foster mum, Fiona, since she was five and has a health condition affecting her learning, but believes that Ruby’s positivity and focus on her own abilities has resulted in her becoming a very good athlete and an outstanding volunteer; commends Ruby’s many achievements and contributions to her school and community; is very proud of Ruby’s enthusiasm and willingness to try hard and considers how inspiring Ruby’s achievements are to her peer group and local community, and extends its very best wishes to Ruby for continued success in the future
