That the Parliament notes with grave concern the current food crisis in southern Africa; recognises that over 30 million people are expected to need food aid between October 2024 and March 2025; understands that this crisis has been exacerbated by climate change; believes that it ought to inspire greater resolve to tackle the climate emergency and its effects; applauds the Scottish public for their generous contributions to SCIAF's urgent Africa Food Crisis Appeal, and recognises the work of Islamic Relief, Caritas agencies and others across Africa, working tirelessly to support affected people through this time of crisis.
