Celebrating 30 Years of Eco-Schools in Scotland

  • Submitted by: Monica Lennon, Central Scotland, Scottish Labour.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 08 October 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-14831

That the Parliament celebrates the 30th anniversary of Eco-Schools, which it believes is the world's largest sustainable schools programme, spanning 74 countries; recognises what it considers to be the crucial role that the Eco-Schools programme continues to play in promoting learning for sustainability in schools, nurseries and community engagement in Scotland; notes that the programme is operated internationally by the Foundation for Environmental Education and delivered in Scotland by Keep Scotland Beautiful; appreciates that completing a Green Flag Application is a visible indication of a school's or nursery's commitment to Learning for Sustainability and an internationally recognised accreditation for excellence in sustainable education, and commends all Eco-Schools for their commitment to sustainability and action on climate and nature.
