That the Parliament congratulates Maggie Adamson, from Shetland, and her sailing partner, Cal Finlayson, on winning the sailing Offshore Double Handed World Championships 2024 at the final held in Lorient, France; understands that the final began at 11.00 am on 30 September 2024 and lasted about 27 hours, with 22 teams representing 16 nations taking part; further understands that the final leg of the race was closely contested, with the British team gaining the lead and winning by 65 seconds; believes that sailing at this level requires a high level of skill and teamwork and that the win is a testament to the hard work and talent of Maggie and Cal; notes that, as skipper at the sail training charity, The Swan Trust, Maggie was awarded the Sail Trainer of the Year 2022 award at the Sail Training International Awards 2022, as celebrated in motion S6M-06978; further notes that Maggie, a champion fiddle player, represented Shetland at the awards ceremony by performing a medley of Shetland songs on the fiddle; commends Maggie and Cal on their win, and wishes them well in their sailing endeavours.
