Milngavie and Bearsden Men’s Shed Revamp Red Phone Box

  • Submitted by: Pam Gosal, West Scotland, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 01 October 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-14716

That the Parliament applauds the efforts of the Milngavie and Bearsden Men’s Shed group to transform a disused red phone box at Bearsden Cross into a local icon; notes that the group adopted the phone box from BT for £1; considers that these phone boxes, which were designed in 1935 by architect Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, are famous the world over; understands that the phone box was repainted, with new lighting and laser-etched panels displaying the names of local businesses who contributed to the refurbishment; acknowledges that the phone box will be a community asset for many years to come, and wishes everyone at the charity every success for future projects.
