Congratulations to GRO Coffee on New Venue and Continued Success in Ayrshire

  • Submitted by: Kenneth Gibson, Cunninghame North, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 30 September 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-14692

That the Parliament congratulates GRO Coffee, one of Ayrshire’s most successful café chains, on its plans to open a new venue just north of Ardrossan, marking its third establishment in Ayrshire, following successful branches in Irvine and Ayr; recognises the significant contribution that GRO Coffee founder, Mr Gordon Rennie, and his team have made in promoting socially responsible, organic, locally sourced food and drink in Ayrshire; notes that the new premises, located at the former Rowan Tree restaurant and garden centre on the A78 between Ardrossan and West Kilbride, represents a continuation of the site’s rich history as a local destination, which had been owned and managed for over 20 years by the previous proprietors; welcomes GRO Coffee’s plans for its new location venue, which include the creation of 40 to 50 new jobs and exciting design features, such as log-burning fires, large couches and armchairs overlooking Goatfell, and the construction of what is expected to be Scotland’s largest cake bar; considers that this new venue will serve as a key addition to the growing network of high-quality destinations in North Ayrshire, further establishing the area as a popular destination for both residents and visitors alike, and believes that this new venture, set to open in June 2025, will provide economic and social benefits for the residents of Ardrossan, West Kilbride and beyond.
