  • Date lodged: Thursday, 26 September 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-14662

That the Parliament congratulates St Leonard's Episcopal Church, which is in Lasswade, on being awarded £20,000 by the Asda Foundation to transform part of its building into a community hub; acknowledges that it will install a new heating system, solar panels and an accessible toilet, and upgrade the kitchen, to create an open and flexible space through the removal of fixed pews; recognises that St Leonard’s is a vibrant community centre that offers a wide range of activities, including toddler groups, a children's club, a youth drama group and exercise and dance classes for adults as well as serving as a place of connection for people experiencing loneliness and isolation, and notes that this award is part of the foundation's wider £1.2 million Investing in Spaces and Places fund, which has pledged over £2.5 million since 2022 to support the transformation of community spaces across the UK.
