That the Parliament welcomes Scotland being chosen once again to host the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Peatland Programme Conference, which is being held at Cairngorms National Park from 17 to 19 September 2024; acknowledges that this is the largest UK gathering of peatland experts; understands that peatland covers 20% of Scotland’s land area and is considered a key player in tackling climate change; further understands that areas of Scottish peatland are degraded, and hopes that this conference renews efforts towards peatland restoration.
