That the Parliament congratulates Kirky Cinema, based at Kirkintilloch Town Hall, on being awarded £10,000 from the National Lottery Awards for All Scotland fund to support its efforts in providing a big-screen experience for the people of East Dunbartonshire on their doorstep; understands that the venture, a voluntary association, is in full partnership with East Dunbartonshire Leisure and Culture; praises the community cinema manager, Serina Marshall, and her team of dedicated volunteers for their sterling efforts in bringing the local community together in a much-loved local space; commends them for partnering with Alzheimer Scotland to provide dementia-friendly screenings and also taking the cinema out to East Dunbartonshire schools and local community groups; understands that the official launch of the new cinema will take place on 20 September 2024 with official representatives of East Dunbartonshire Council and Alzheimer Scotland; notes that Awards for All funding is given to projects that improve the places and spaces that matter to communities, help more people to reach their potential and support people, as well as communities and organisations, facing more demands and challenges because of the cost of living crisis, and wishes Kirky Cinema all the very best in its future endeavours.
