League of Hospital Friends Donates £120,000 Scanner to IRH

  • Submitted by: Stuart McMillan, Greenock and Inverclyde, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 22 August 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-14151

That the Parliament thanks the League of Hospital Friends, which runs the tea bar at Inverclyde Royal Hospital, for donating a high-tech Fibroscan machine, which helps to detect how much scarring is in the liver and helps doctors decide on a patient’s plan of treatment; understands that this scanner represents a donation worth £120,000, and that, since being founded in 1972, the "tea bar heroes" have raised more than £2 million to support the hospital; believes that this life-changing equipment will go a long way to helping patients to receive timely, appropriate treatment and means that they do not need to travel to Paisley or Glasgow to undergo a Fibroscan, and applauds, therefore, the volunteers who run the tea bar for their generosity.
