New Community Playpark Opens in Auchenback

  • Submitted by: Paul O'Kane, West Scotland, Scottish Labour.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 19 August 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-14129

That the Parliament recognises that a new £80,000 community play park has opened on Newton Avenue in Auchenback, Barrhead; understands that the construction of the park was a partnership project between Barrhead Housing Association, as part of its role as a local charity and social landlord, and East Renfrewshire Council; notes that local tenants were consulted on the design of the park, as well as the equipment that is installed within it; believes that this new park is a fine example of local people having a meaningful say on what their community should look like and what it can offer young people; celebrates that children who live locally are already enthusiastically using the park; congratulates the entire team at Barrhead Housing Association and East Renfrewshire Council on working together to deliver a new vibrant setting for young people to play in, and looks forward to joint working on on future projects that benefit the communities of Barrhead and the wider Levern Valley.
