HMS Unicorn Funding

  • Submitted by: Joe FitzPatrick, Dundee City West, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 07 August 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-14041

That the Parliament congratulates the Unicorn Preservation Society in Dundee on securing £471,860 in funding, made up of a £250,000 award from the Northwood Charitable Trust and an award of £221,860 from the National Lottery Heritage Fund; understands that 2024 is HMS Unicorn’s 200th anniversary year, and that the funding will be used to celebrate the anniversary, improve awareness of the ship and its significance, and to progress plans to move HMS Unicorn to East Graving Dock, and further understands that HMS Unicorn is one of the six oldest ships in the world and Scotland's only representative of the sailing navy.
