Congratulating the University of Aberdeen

  • Submitted by: Kevin Stewart, Aberdeen Central, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 16 July 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-13892

That the Parliament congratulates the University of Aberdeen on being ranked second in Scotland for overall student satisfaction in the 2024 National Student Survey (NSS); notes that the survey, which ranks 122 higher education institutions across the UK, also placed the University of Aberdeen in the UK top 10 for teaching, academic support, learning resources and organisation, as well as 15th for positive responses; further notes that, at subject level, the University placed first in the UK for earth sciences, history of art, architecture and design, human geography and linguistics, as well as first in Scotland across a total of 20 subjects, including anthropology, biotechnology, business studies and microbiology and cell science; believes that these rankings are a testament to the hard work of staff and students at the university, and hopes that these results serve to show prospective students that Aberdeen is an excellent destination for further learning and enhancing career prospects.
