Aberdeenshire School, Elrick Primary, Win National Glee Choir Competition

  • Submitted by: Alexander Burnett, Aberdeenshire West, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 31 July 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-13861

That the Parliament congratulates Elrick Primary School on winning the finals of the National Glee Choir Competition in Dundee’s Caird Hall; understands that there were 40 pupils from P6 and P7 who performed two space-themed songs, Major Tom (Coming Home), originally performed by Peter Schilling, and Shooting Star by Flip and Fill; notes that 148 schools from across Scotland, with 40 from the north east, competed in the annual Glee choir competition, all with different songs and choreographed routines; understands that the challenge, supported by the Frisson Foundation, is the largest most inclusive singing, dance, performance and choir initiative, engaging with thousands of Scotland’s primary school children; congratulates all the pupils, teachers and parents involved, and wishes Elrick Primary School further success in the future.
