  • Submitted by: Mark Ruskell, Mid Scotland and Fife, Scottish Green Party.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 01 July 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-13824

That the Parliament congratulates the Glenfarg Community Transport Group on winning the Best Bus Service award at the Scottish Transport Awards, hosted in Glasgow on 21 June 2024, for its operation of the 55 Bus Service from Kinross to Perth via Glenfarg; understands that Glenfarg Community Council and a team of volunteers established the Glenfarg Community Transport Group in 2022 and set up the 55 Bus Service in response to the loss of what it considers to be a vital local bus service, which was previously run by a commercial operator; further understands that, since the community group has been running, the bus passenger numbers have surged and the regularity of the bus service has been increased to hourly; understands that the group aims to improve public transport and active travel options in and around Glenfarg and that it operates five projects, namely the 55 Glenfarg Bus Service, the Glenfarg Community Bus, the Glenfarg School Bus, Active Travel Walking, and Active Travel Wheeling, and thanks the Glenfarg Community Transport Group for driving what it sees as impactful change in the transport sector.
