  • Date lodged: Monday, 24 June 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-13752

That the Parliament celebrates the career of Margaret Rice (née Green), who began working with then Clydebank Burgh Council, now West Dunbartonshire Council, as a shorthand typist/clerkess for the Old Kilpatrick Area Education Sub-Committee in February 1958; understands that, after maternity leave in 1968, Margaret continued in various administrative roles at St Columba’s High School in Clydebank and also taught a new generation of typists with evening classes at Hermitage Academy and Clydebank College throughout the 1960s and 70s, and recognises the contribution and personal dedication to education in West Dunbartonshire by Margaret, who even after retirement continued as chief invigilator for the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) in St Columba’s High School, then St Peter the Apostle High School until June 2023.
