40 Years of Action for Children’s Clackmannanshire Family Support Service

  • Submitted by: Keith Brown, Clackmannanshire and Dunblane, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 19 June 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-13715

That the Parliament congratulates Action for Children on celebrating 40 years of family support service provision to the community of Clackmannanshire; notes that 1984, during the miners’ strike, which saw many local families negatively impacted, was the catalyst for Action for Children providing support to families in the area, and that, since then, the service has provided a well-known and vital community hub; considers that the service is helping to Keep the Promise as it builds families’ resilience, offering families tools and strategies to assist them in creating safe and loving family environments; understands that the service has evolved over the 40 years and now facilitates parent groups, including cooking, gardening, wellbeing and play together sessions for parents and children, as well as after-school groups, sessions for young people affected by grief and loss and lots more, and wishes the Action for Children staff, who have provided an amazing four decades of dedication support, care and love to hundreds of local families, continued success in the future.
