Congratulating Willy Barr of the Citadel Youth Centre in Leith

That the Parliament congratulates Willy Barr, manager of the Citadel Youth Centre in Leith, on winning YouthLink Scotland’s Inspirational Leader Award at the National Youth Work Awards; notes that the awards ceremony, which took place in Glasgow on 12 June 2024, celebrated the dedication, innovation and passion of heroes across Scotland’s youth work sector; understands that Mr Barr won this award in recognition of his tireless dedication and his efforts in creating a positive work environment, enhancing team capacity and morale, and prioritising continuous learning; commends Mr Barr and the staff and volunteers of Citadel Youth Centre on their work offering local children and young people, particularly those experiencing difficulties or coming from a background of disadvantage, a varied programme of play, activities and educational opportunities designed to encourage, develop and reinforce their skills and self-image in a safe and supportive environment, and wishes Mr Barr and the Citadel Youth Centre well for the future as they continue their meaningful work changing the lives of children and youth across Leith.
