Cricket Scotland Team Impresses at T20 World Cup

  • Submitted by: Dr. Sandesh Gulhane, Glasgow, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 19 June 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-13681

That the Parliament commends the performance of the Cricket Scotland men’s team in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, as it bows out at the group stage following defeat to Australia in St Lucia; considers that the team came incredibly close to qualifying for the Super 8 stage; notes that the Scotland team finished its innings on an impressive 180 for five, with 12 sixes, which, it understands, is the highest total by Scotland in a Men’s T20 World Cup; praises the Scotland team for what it sees as an impressive and encouraging campaign; believes that the team has improved greatly over the last few years and has shown that it can compete at the top level; congratulates captain Richie Berrington, all of the team and the support staff on their efforts, and wishes the team all the best for future competitions as it builds on its success.
