That the Parliament congratulates Anne Gregg, John Corse and Angus Heddle, all from Orkney, on being awarded MBEs in His Majesty The King’s Birthday Honours list 2024; understands that Anne Gregg, who has worked at NHS Orkney since 1993 and been a Macmillan Nurse for 25 years, has been recognised for services to healthcare in the Orkney Islands; believes that Mrs Gregg has worked tirelessly throughout her career to give the very best of care to people in hospital and across the community, and understands that her work saw her presented with the Special Recognition Award at the Team Orkney Awards earlier in 2024; notes that John Corse, of John G Corse Funeral Directors, has been recognised for services to the community in Orkney, having conducted thousands of funerals on the islands; believes that he is well-known for the sensitive manner in which he deals with families who have just lost a loved one; understands that Mr Corse built the county’s first funeral home, and that he has separately been involved in extensive charitable efforts over a number of years; acknowledges Angus Heddle’s nomination for services to the Royal National Lifeboat Institution and to the community in Longhope, having been a member of the Longhope Lifeboat shore crew and a winch operator since 1949; believes that Mr Heddle has also been central to the success of the Longhope Lifeboat Museum, having been a member of the museum’s trust since its creation; thanks Mrs Gregg, Mr Corse and Mr Heddle, as well as all of this year’s Birthday Honours recipients, for their hard work and dedication to their local communities, and wishes them every success in the future.
