That the Parliament celebrates the 200th anniversary of the great British pint; believes that the pint symbolises Scotland’s history as a brewing powerhouse; recognises what it sees as the strategic importance of Scotland’s beer and pub sector to the Scottish economy, with, it understands, over 100 breweries and 4,340 pubs employing in the region of 65,000 people and contributing £1.8 billion of wider economic benefit; understands that the sector is facing significant challenges, from changing consumer habits and rising costs to what it sees as a growing regulatory burden, and wishes the sector well going into the EURO 2024 tournament, with the Scottish Beer and Pub Association predicting that an extra 1.8 million pints will be poured in Scotland’s pubs, providing what it considers will be a significant boost to the sector and the wider economy.
