Professor Juliet MacArthur, Named Joint Winner of the Inspiring Excellence – Nursing Research and Innovation Award at the RCN Scotland Nurse of the Year Awards 2024

That the Parliament congratulates Professor Juliet MacArthur, chief nurse for research and development in NHS Lothian, on being named joint winner of the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) Scotland Inspiring Excellence – Nursing Research and Innovation Award category at the RCN Scotland Nurse of the Year Awards 2024; understands that this award aims to recognise those who have influenced change with a measurable impact on outcomes and/or experience, and that Professor MacArthur has been instrumental in advancing clinical academic careers and research partnerships in various health care disciplines across Edinburgh and the Lothians, demonstrating leadership in project development, particularly focusing on nursing and midwifery candidates in the Lothian Clinical Academic Research Gateway Awards scheme; further understands that the impact of Professor MacArthur’s work extends beyond local level, as demonstrated by the adoption of a similar format by the Chief Scientist Office for the nationwide NHS Researcher Development Fellowships scheme; recognises how much Juliet's colleagues admire her vision and dedication to supporting clinical academic research partnerships, and wishes Professor MacArthur continued success in her career.
