Congratulating Homelessness Charity, Right There, on 200 Years

  • Submitted by: Miles Briggs, Lothian, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 13 June 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-13620

That the Parliament congratulates Right There as it celebrates its 200th year of preventing and tackling homelessness; notes that, since the charity was established in 1824, it has provided practical assistance, advocacy and empowerment to individuals facing tough times; recognises that, through its unique approach, it generates over £300 million of savings every year for the public purse through the likes of long-term health and social care, unemployment benefits, emergency accommodation and by helping to stop people’s problems from worsening; considers that the work of the charity is critical at a time when Scotland’s housing crisis is intensifying, and recognises what it sees as the social benefits that it delivers for society as a whole.
