  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 12 June 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-13613

That the Parliament applauds Kara McInally and her "Sassy Squad" friends from Ladywell Primary School in Motherwell who will be participating in the Motherwell Pretty Mudder Kids within Strathclyde Park; understands that the course will be over 5k with muddy obstacles, and made for all to have fun, where participants will climb, crawl and slip their way to help tackle cancer; further understands that Race for Life is a series of events that encourage everyone, regardless of age, ability or background to take part, and has become one of the largest fundraising events in the UK, raising over £500 million to date, helping to fund cancer research in all 200 types of cancer; understands that Kara, who has had brain surgery three times to treat rare cancer, has raised almost £1,000 and has been chosen as the VIP race starter; congratulates Cancer Research UK and all those who have helped and participated in the Race for Life since 1994, and thanks the charity, including its fantastic team in Scotland, for its continued work.
