Make A Will Campaign

  • Submitted by: Clare Adamson, Motherwell and Wishaw, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 10 June 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-13556

That the Parliament congratulates Pomphreys Solicitors Inc Pomphreys Properties, in Wishaw, which it understands has been raising funds for St Andrew's Hospice; understands that Pomphreys Solicitors participated in the annual St Andrew’s Hospice Make A Will campaign, raising an incredible £3,080 by waiving its fee for writing a basic will in return for a donation to the hospice; further understands that Pomphreys Solicitors has taken part in the Will Aid campaign since 2017 and has raised a grand total of £10,810; understands that almost two thirds of the population currently do not have a will, as many people assume that they do not need a will, believing that their assets will automatically pass to the person whom they would wish would benefit, unaware that this is not always the case; further understands that it is recommended that everyone over the age of 16 in Scotland should consider writing a will to ensure that their estate is distributed as they wish; thanks all the solicitors across Motherwell and Wishaw and their clients for their kind donations, and wishes Pomphreys Solicitors Inc Pomphreys Properties and St Andrew’s Hospice all the best for the future.
