  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 04 June 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-13367

That the Parliament recognises Des Dickson on his retiral from his role as education operations manager at South Lanarkshire Council; understands that Des has had a long career in local government, working at South Lanarkshire since its inception in 1996; further understands that tributes from his colleagues and local elected members warmly recognise Des’ absolute belief in the power of education and his commitment to improving the experiences of all learners in South Lanarkshire and beyond; believes that in his committee role, Des acted as a consistent champion of the achievements and successes, large and small, of staff and learners through his regular celebrating success reports, which, it understands, demonstrated the positive difference education makes to the lives of learners and their families and shared good practice, and wishes him all the very best for a happy and well-earned retirement.
