Congratulating Shawlands Primary School on its Gold Sportscotland School Sport Award

That the Parliament congratulates Shawlands Primary School on its success in obtaining the sportscotland Gold School Sport Award; considers that Shawlands Primary supports and encourages its learners to become confident individuals, responsible citizens, effective contributors and successful learners, and feels that sport provides a great foundation to build on these personal qualities; acknowledges that, in order to achieve this award, the school was assessed against a range of criteria, including school sport, physical education, clubs and community, competitive opportunities, celebrating sport, developing pupils, developing deliverers and recognising its people, and recognises that the school is dedicated to improving the health and fitness of its pupils through an active health committee, initiatives such as the daily mile and brain breaks, taking part in sporting competitions, with some children taking home medals, and working with coaches to provide a greater range of activities, as well as providing career-long professional learning (CLPL) opportunities for teachers.
