  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 30 April 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-13039

That the Parliament recognises St Mungo’s RC Primary School in Alloa, Clackmannanshire, for achieving a Reading Schools Gold accreditation by the Scottish Book Trust; commends staff, children, parents and carers for what it sees as their dedication and hard work in building a thriving, positive reading culture and sharing enthusiasm for the written word with the wider community; understands that the school has a podcast, an intergenerational project, partners with neighbouring schools and hosts family engagement activities, all promoting and celebrating the joy of reading; believes that the Gold accreditation follows the school’s previous achievements in achieving Core and Silver awards from Reading Schools, which are also run by the Scottish Book Trust and are open to every school in Scotland, and extends its very best wishes to everyone at the school for continued success in the future.
