That the Parliament commends the Scottish Retail Consortium for producing voluntary guidelines for retailers on the responsible sale of disposable barbecues during extreme heat events; notes that the guidelines and practical steps for shopkeepers were developed in partnership with manufacturers and fire and rescue services; recognises that the aim is to encourage shops to better advise and educate customers on the safe and responsible use and disposal of single-use disposable barbecues, to prevent the spread of wildfires, and encourage closer collaboration between shopkeepers and local authorities when extreme heat events occur, and encourages people living in Scotland and visitors to follow the safety instructions when using disposable barbecues, to never leave them unattended, to dispose of them safely, and to avoid their use during times of prolonged and excessively dry weather.
