International Day of Forests

That the Parliament welcomes the International Day of Forests, which is observed annually on 21 March, and underscores the crucial role of forests and innovation in addressing deforestation and climate change challenges; believes that advancements in technology enable countries to monitor and manage forests more efficiently, leading to reduced carbon emissions and sustainable development; recognises that the day encourages active participation in activities aimed at promoting forest conservation, and highlights initiatives like AIM4Forests, which focus on enhancing forest monitoring capabilities; understands that this day originated from a UN General Assembly proclamation in 2012; further understands that the International Day of Forests serves as a platform to raise awareness and celebrate the invaluable contributions of forests worldwide; recognises the importance of forests and embracing what it sees as innovative approaches to their conservation and management; believes that everyone can work towards safeguarding these vital ecosystems for current and future generations; thanks the global efforts on the International Day of Forests to protect and preserve the forests, and hopes that these efforts ensure their health and resilience in the face of environmental challenges.
